Cultivating Awareness in our Community
As the weather warms and we spend more time outdoors, it’s important to stay informed about one of the most overlooked health risks in our environment—ticks. Whether you’re gardening, hiking, or simply enjoying your backyard, understanding how to protect yourself and your family is essential.
That’s why we’re excited to host Tick Talk 101: Cultivating Awareness in Our Community, an informative and hands-on workshop designed to educate and empower our local community.
Why Tick Awareness Matters
Ticks are more than just a nuisance—they can carry serious illnesses, including Lyme disease and other tickborne infections. With cases on the rise across the United States, awareness and prevention are key.
This workshop is designed to give you practical, easy-to-understand knowledge so you can confidently protect yourself and your loved ones.
What You’ll Learn at Tick Talk 101
During this one-hour session, attendees will gain valuable insights into:
- Common tick species found in our region and the diseases they may carry
- How to safely remove a tick without increasing risk of infection
- What to do after a tick bite, including signs and symptoms to watch for
- Effective prevention strategies for both your yard and your skin
This is not just theory—you’ll walk away with real-life knowledge you can apply immediately.
Hands-On Experience: Make Your Own Natural Bug Spray
In addition to expert guidance, attendees will enjoy a hands-on activity where you’ll create your own plant-based bug spray to take home.
This natural repellent will be made using high-quality essential oils from doTERRA, giving you a safer, more holistic alternative to conventional sprays.
